FELICITACIONES

The team effort of Dr. Ricardo Lleonart,  Alejandro Llanes and Carlos  Restrepo on  L. panamensis genome,  got finally accepted and released by GenBank, USA.

 

This is great dedicated effort of the above team under the leadership of Dr. Ricardo Lleonart. It is important to mention all the annotation of genome was done in Panama with the help of Cluster

Informatics donated by Mr. Arturo Melo.

 

Let us congratulate the team for their dedicated job and wish them good luck for their upcoming publications on this.Let us all proud of the team.

Dr. Carmenza Spadafora has won International research grant from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology- Italy  (ICGEB grant) of Euro- 45,000 for her research project on “Search for self-destruction signals in P. falciparam” .  Dr. Carmenza is the first scientist who won the ICGEB grant from Panama.

 

It is great honor and privilege for INDICASAT to be proud of this achievement.

Great Honor to announce that Dr. Carmenza Spadafora has won APANAC-SENACYT award in APANAC closing ceremony 2014.

 

Luis Fernando De León, Ph.D has won grant (as PI) from Earth watch Institute. The amount of the grant is 35K and it is directed towards Galapagos expedition in 2015.

 

The title of the grant is:

“Exploring humans impact on the evolution of Darwin’s finches”

 

Let us congratulate Dr. Luis Fernando for this

achievement and wish him many more International grants thus keeping INDICASAT at International Sphere.

Plagiostoma mejianum, named after Luis C. Mejía, Panama, to honor his contribution to the taxonomy of the genus Plagiostoma, on endophytes: plant pathogens. The new species grows on twigs of Salix

babylonica in Japan.

This was published online in “Mycological Progress” last June, 2014. Let us congratulate Dr. Luis Mejia for the wonderful recognition and wish more success in future.

We are very glad to inform that Prof. Sambasiva Rao  has become the Rector of Acharya Nagarjuna University. Prof. Rao is chosen for this position by Government based on his academic performance and
